MSIGH exhibited at a four-day "5th Eco-Products International Fair" held in the capital of the Philippines, Manila, which started on March 19, 2009. The fair aimed at providing opportunities for the government, companies and the public to exchange information on protecting the global environment, such as eco-friendly products and activities promoted by companies in Asia, including Japan.
We exhibited panels to present our effort in promoting "eco-safe driving", "solar loan" and various other activities. The event was a huge success, with thousands of visitors going around the booths, including Philippine President Arroyo.

Making envelopes ecological

We have made the issued insurance policy and the envelops we use to send information to our shareholders ecological. Even the transparent opening in the envelope is made by recyclable materials such as glassine paper or PHA natural plastics. For printing, soy ink was used reducing the ecological impact further.

ECO2 (Ecology & Economy) campaign

The ECO2 campaign earns its name from the policy of reducing waste by saving energy and resources (Economize) and therefore reducing the impact on the environment (Ecology). This campaign is now being implemented in all branches.
Since 2003, we have been operating the ECO2 Summer policy where employees are free to wear business casual wear that keeps them cooler therefore allowing for air-conditioning to be less intensively used. This policy was made an all year policy in 2005 allowing for heating in winter to be moderated.

Activities related to UNEP (United Nations Environment Program)

In November 1995, we have drafted and signed the “UNEP Statement by Financial Institutions” aiming at the international collaboration amongst financial institutions world wide in order to tackle environmental problems.

In September 2005, Japanese financial institutions that have signed the UNEP FI statement came together to form the “UNEP FI Asia/Pacific Task Force Japan Group” in order to strengthen communication amongst the institutions and to present information externally.

We will continue to strengthen our involvement in environmental issues in order to fulfill our social responsibility as a corporation.
