Activities
April Start growing seedlings
We began growing the seedlings toward “tree plantation” commencing in November.
Using a section of practice space of university near Paliyan Wildlife Reserve, we are planting seedlings of mahogany, Indian almonds, cashew nuts and so on.

July Briefing session for local residents
We launched a briefing session to explain about this project to local residents around Paliyan Wildlife Reserve, where the planation site is located. Mr. Kusu, Wildlife Reserve Manager of Indonesian Department of Forestry, explained the importance of this project strengthening the cooperative relationship with the local residents.

August Start location survey
We started the location survey of tentative plantation site for this year.
The local residents will be in charge of making the piles needed for land rearrangement of plantation site.

December Launch plantation ceremony
To commence the plantation of 90,000 trees in approximately 100 hectares of land, nearly thousand people including Indonesia Forestry Minister Mr. Kaban and representatives from 4 local villages gathered at Paliyan Wildlife Reserve to celebrate the plantation ceremony hosted by Yogyakarta Special Province Governor Hamengkubuwono X.
At the ceremony, Forestry Minister Mr. Kaban gave a welcoming speech and particpants planted trees for commemoration. In the morning, with the objective to "commit to long-term plantation activities and contribute to the education environment around the site", our subsidiary, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Indonesia, has donated textbooks, stationery and sports equipment to five local primary schools, promising stronger ties with Indonesia.
