Overview

In the five years since the October 2001 merger that created the MSI Group, we have seen a major realignment of Japanese non-life insurance industry and the dramatic transformation of that business environment. The entire MSI Group has drawn on its many strengths to meet these challenges, and in the process, we have become a leading player in Japanese non-life insurance industry.
The MSI Group is now working to achieve its next goal: positioning ourselves as a “world-class insurance and financial services group.” In April 2007, we began executing a medium-term management plan called New Challenge 10 that will end in fiscal 2010. Under this plan, we will use the Group's management philosophy and code of conduct as the basis for achieving our vision for the Group by 2010. The plan establishes strategies and initiatives to reach this goal along with a vision for Group employees.
New Challenge 10 has three core strategies: the basic group strategy, quality improvement strategy, and group business strategy. All three strategies are rooted in the theme of enhancing quality from the standpoint of our customers. Our objective is to establish a virtuous cycle that begins with quality enhancement and advances to earning trust and generating growth, finally completing the cycle to produce further improvements in quality.
